Welcome to St. Bride's Newfoundland

Set on acres of emerald landscape overlooking Newfoundland's largest bay, Bird Island Resort is a haven of tranquility and an ideal spot for a family vacation, or a group retreat. Awaken your senses to the fragrant salt sea air, the rolling hills, and the ever present chorus of Atlantic waves upon our jagged coastline. Experience the splendour of a harbour sunset from our expansive deck.  Get away from it all and go somewhere where life is more fully appreciated, nature more highly prized and people more deeply loved.  Please phone (709) 337-2450 for lodging accommodation and hotel reservations, and retreat and meeting information in St. Bride's.  When sending Email Inquiries, please include your telephone number and we will telephone you.

Please use our pages to explore Newfoundland and Labrador tourism vacation spots, Newfoundland tourism attractions and accommodation; lodging, and other tourist and tourism activities.  Our Cape St. Mary's Seabird Ecological Reserve web page has views of Seabird Nesting sites which are located on steep stone cliffs and rock caps that have split from the cliffs. These crags offer impossible but hospitable nesting sites for thousands of seabirds.  You will find links to the Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Visitor's Interpretation Centre at Cape St. Mary's Seabird Ecological Reserve.  Cape St. Mary's Seabird Ecological Reserve is just a 10 minute drive from St. Bride's.

Bird Island Resort in St. Bride's is an ideal lodging motel from which to explore Newfoundland tourism.  The Newfoundland Road Map page centres on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland from St. John's to St. Bride's.  The road map highlights available vacation activities and contains links to interesting web sites found along the routes.  The Newfoundland tourism and tourist information page lists trout fishing and fly fishing links, fairies and folk tales, motel, lodging and hotel reservations links, vacation rentals, plus tourism and tourist information on the Memorial University of Newfoundland and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador web sites.

Driving Directions: You will find us in St. Bride's, Newfoundland and Labrador, on the southern tip of the Cape Shore Loop on Route 100.  From the Trans Canada Highway, you may depart at either the Argentia turnoff in Whitbourne, or at the Salmonier Line intersection. To take the Argentia turnoff, follow Route 100 and to take the Salmonier Line intersection follow first Route 90, then Route 91, and then Route 92.
Owing to its two intersections with the Trans Canada Highway, the Cape Shore is ideal for a loop tour, enthralling travelers with ever changing wooded, barren, and coastal scenery. And, since we are located at the bottom end of the loop, Bird Island Resort is the ideal place to make hotel reservations for Newfoundland Tourism, and our link page is a good place to find other accommodation.

Newfoundland Weather.  Although there are milder climates in Canada, the Newfoundland weather is neither as foggy nor rainy as many believe.  Newfoundland weather is milder than Toronto or Montreal in the the winter, and Newfoundland weather is also milder in the summer months than in Toronto or Montreal.  This means that summer weather conditions are ideal for hiking and that winter weather conditions are ideal for winter sports of all kinds.
